When it comes to relationships we all have our flaws, but some flaws are more damaging than others.
FOX’s Ashley Papa shares in “FOX on Love.”: How to Handle Dating a Narcissist
There’s nothing like falling head over heels for a new love. But, fall too fast, and you might miss the red flags that show you’re falling for a narcissist.
Doctor Ramani Durvasula, author of “Should I Stay or Should I Go? Surviving a Relationship with a Narcissist”, says you must pay attention to the signs early on:
(Dr. Durvasula) “Over time, if you find that they talk a lot about themselves and then when the conversation switches over to you, you notice that they’re checking their cell phone, or yawning, that’s a good sign.”
She says they also lie a lot and may act entitled, rude or try to isolate you from loved ones. A good way to identify a narcissist is if they’re superficial on social media:
(Dr. Durvasula) “How much of their life is based on selfies? How edited are the images? How much of their life is organized around themselves saying “look at me here I am on vacation” or “here I am with my new car”?”
But, the best way to handle dating a narcissist is to just not date one. Remember that it’s hard to change anyone, let alone a narcissist.
